In 2009, more than one problem arose during the construction of the new Terminal 3 at Vienna Airport. Almost everything that can go wrong on a construction site did go wrong. A rigorous construction stop was the dramatic consequence.
What necessarily followed was the largest forensic evidence gathering ever conducted in Austria. The challenge was that more than 3,600 rooms had to be meticulously inspected on site and thousands of defects documented with ultimately more than 120,000 photos – without gaps and absolutely reliably. This was an undertaking that could not have been accomplished with the resources available at the time.
To cope with this task, a digital solution was urgently needed and so, together with a team of young programmers, a first prototype of today’s software was developed. This was the birth of docu tools and the absolute game changer in the field of defect documentation: with this program, it was possible for the first time to record information and photos on a digital plan with positional accuracy. In 2012, the new terminal was finally opened and the now technically mature documentation software docu tools had more than successfully “seen the light of day”.
Almost a decade later, hundreds of companies of all sizes and in different application areas are now benefiting from our software in their projects. Thanks to perfect digital documentation and collaborative task management, all parties involved in the project save valuable time, money and unnecessary hassle. In practice, docu tools is not only an advantage on the side of the building owner; subcontractors and partner companies also benefit from a clear overview of all processes on site, the customized reporting system, the sound evidence of performance and the intuitive and simple task management.
At our beautiful company location in Vienna, a motivated and international team of software development experts works directly with experienced professionals from the construction industry to further develop our product. In constant exchange with our customers, docu tools is constantly expanded and improved and the continuous growth of our customer and user numbers shows us that the path we have chosen is a promising one for the future.
